Beer lovers of the world, did you know there is a whole 24 hours dedicated especially to you coming soon? It’s of course National Beer Lovers Day on the 7th of September! So, on this occasion, we thought we’d share our love of a good brew with all of you and put together a top-notch list with a good mix of styles to suit any beer fan. Whether you love a refreshing IPA, a deliciously sweet pastry stout, a fruity sour, or a powerful aged Imperial Stout, we’ve got it! 1. Reel Deel Mayo Red Ale


Kicking this list off with a wonderful example of an Irish Red Ale from Mayo's up-and-comers Reel Deel Brewery. This one is full of malty goodness with an interesting spin as they add a small addition of Dillisk seaweed pulled straight from the Atlantic Ocean into the brew. Pair this one with some bread, butter, and local Mayo cheese -- heaven indeed!


ABV: 3.5% | €3.60


 


2. Wicklow Wolf Toto Sorachi Italian Pilsner 


Wicklow Wolf always impress us with their new releases, this time they've released quite the charming Italian Pilsner! Toto Sorachi is brewed with Pilsner malt, Sorachi Ace hops for bittering, and German hops Huell Melon and Ariana for flavour and aroma. Believe us, this is one refreshing pilsner with bready, malt sweetness, citrus and melon aromas, and a clean, crisp bitterness to finish.


ABV: 4.8% | €3.30


 


3. Treaty City Tangerine Sour


Next up on our list is one we think you’re going to love. Let us summarise it with one sentence: A tart refreshing sour brewed with tangerine and black lime? It's like Treaty City have read our dreams! This sour is beautifully balanced with just the right amount of acidity and an ultra-refreshing finish. Be sure to try this one if you’re looking for a quality sour this National Beer Lovers Day (or any day really!)

4. Garage Beer P9 Barcelona Weisse w/Raspberry & Passionfruit


Keeping the sour goodness flowing as next up is a simply stunning low ABV, refreshing sour from Spain for when you need that sunshine hit in the colder months ahead! This brew packs two hard-to-resist flavours: raspberry and passion fruit. Made from a gluten-free base with lots of juicy raspberries and then amplified with tart passion fruit. Yum, yum, and yum once more!


ABV: 4% | €4.15


5. Odell 90 Shilling Amber Ale 


Odell's flagship beer and for a good reason! This medium-bodied amber ale pours a distinct burnished copper colour with a deeply pleasant aroma of caramel and biscuits. The name 90 Shilling comes from the Scottish method of taxing beer where only the highest quality beers were taxed 90 Shillings. We're sure you'll find this original ale worth every Shilling!

6. Quiet Noise Pale Ale 0%


This pale ale delivers on all levels... without the alcohol! Delicious citrus flavours of grapefruit and orange balanced with a refreshing bitterness that keeps you coming back for more! Perfect for those looking to enjoy a brew this National Beer Lovers Day without the guilt or those wanting a quality beer while still on a healthy buzz.

7. Garden Brewery Salted Caramel & Chocolate Biscuit Stout


Oh you best believe this is one deeply layered stout! As the name implies, this imperial milk stout from Croatia’s Garden Brewery is a bit on the salty side with rich caramel, chocolate, and biscuit flavours. Your dessert, as they say, is served sir/madam. How's that for dessert in a can!


ABV: 8.1% | €5.65

 

8. Rascals The Big Smoke Imperial Stout 


And now for the heavy-hitter in our list, and a beer that certainly lives up to its name! This rich and smoky imperial stout opens with a kick of smoke and bacon (think Tayto Smokey Bacon crisps) with subtle hints of chocolate and vanilla in the background underlined by a gently warming bourbon taste. This exceptional imperial stout was brewed in collaboration with The Dubliner Liberties Distillery, and aged in their bourbon barrels for over half a year. The term ‘Big Smoke’ refers back to the Industrial Revolution and big cities such as Dublin.


ABV: 12% | €7.00

 


9. La Chouffe Houblon 


One for the craft beer connoisseurs out there! This Belgian strong beer packs a strong 9% ABV with an incredible bitter and fruity taste. Made using three types of hops: Tomahawk, Saaz, and Amarillo. Taste this magnificent beer while you can as it tends to sell out each time we get it in!

10. Fat Walrus Peachfork American Pale Ale 


Lower your pitchforks and enjoy a peachfork American Pale Ale instead! This beer is a rather unique one that pays homage to a pre-prohibition era American beer style called "Cream Ale" (which doesn't actually contain cream so don't worry!) The creamy silky flavour comes from added corn and fresh peaches imported all the way from Germany. This peachy good ale was winner of Bronze Medal at the 2019 Dublin Craft Beer Cup and we’re sure will earn many other awards in the future!


ABV: 5.5% | €4.00
