A familiar story to many at this stage, Blacks Brewery began small when co-founder Maudeline Black gave her husband Sam a beer making kit as a Valentine's gift. What began as a hobby grew to be much, much more, and in 2013 the couple formed Blacks Brewery in Kinsale, Co. Cork. In 2015, they became the first co-located micro-brewery and distillery in Ireland, a venture that has opened up endless opportunities for exploration in barrel ageing their beers in spirit barrels and vice versa. They now produce a core range of 7 brews as well as an array of specials, including ‘The Irish Giant’, an American Style Barleywine with notes of caramel and sweet toffee, bottled at a whopper 11% abv.
